Join Saltwater Studies for these exciting field trips planned for the 2025/2026 school year!

The quantity indicated should reflect the number of students participating in this event. Students must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Names of parents or guardians should be included in the registration form that appears once you select “Add to Cart”.

  • A minimum of eight (8) students is required to move forward with each event.

  • The registration deadline will be one week before each event.

  • Please note that all students under the age of 13 must be accompanied in the water by an adult or guardian 18 years or older.

1 | Munyan Island Kayak Tour
Monday, September 8, 2025 | 10 AM - 12 PM
@John D. Macarthur Beach State Park, North Palm Beach

Participants will be led in a guided kayak to Munyon Island. For this event we will enjoy a tour of Lake Worth Lagoon before paddling to Munyan Island. This mangrove-lined waterway is home to a wide variety of species including manatees, sportfish, a variety of marine birds and even sea turtles. Once we reach Munyon Island, we will enjoy a short walk along the shoreline to search for marine life. The beaches of Munyon Island offer a great opportunity to collect sea shells and find animals such as hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs and various species of marine birds. After a brief tour of Munyan Island, we will return to the kayak launch. Kayaks will be rented and launched from John D. Macarthur Beach State Park.  

Cost: $45 per student
Expenses: John D. Macarthur Beach State Park charges an entrance fee of $5 per vehicle. Kayak rental is $38 per single kayak for a half day rental and $50 per double kayak for a half day rental. These two expenses are additional to the field trip cost.

2 | Peanut Island Snorkel Tour

@Peanut Island Park, Riviera Beach
Participants will be led on a guided snorkeling adventure in the shallow water around Peanut Island. For this event, we will meet at the Peanut Island Shuttle that departs from Riviera Beach City Marina. Once we arrive on the island, participants will be provided with an overview of marine life that are commonly seen in the shallow waters around Peanut Island. They will then be led on a guided snorkel tour enjoying crystal blue water, an abundance of reef fish and beautiful sea shells. Please note that all participants must be strong swimmers and have their own snorkeling equipment.

Cost: $65 per student
Expenses: Peanut Island Shuttle charges $20 per adult and $10 for children 10 years old and younger. This expense is additional to the field trip cost.

3 | Mangrove Wading Tour
Monday, April 13, 2026 | 10 AM - 12 PM
@Dubois Park, Jupiter

Participants will be led on a guided wading tour of the mangrove ecosystem. Before we head out into the waterway, participants will be given an overview of different marine life that can be spotted in the area including sea urchins, upside down jellies, hermit crabs, fiddler crabs, mangrove crabs, checkered pufferfish and more! Once participants learn about these animals, we head to the waterway and use dip nets to collect various marine life such as snails, crabs, sea urchins and maybe even a fish or two.

4 | Artificial Reef Snorkel Tour

@Phil Foster Park, Riviera Beach

Participants will be given an overview of marine species commonly seen in South Florida’s reef systems. After a brief introduction, participants will be led along an artificial reef system and snorkel tour in the crystal blue waters adjacent to Phil Foster Park in the Intracoastal Waterway. Known for its unique marine life, this snorkel is a great location to view such unusual species as the Leopard Sea Robin, Cushion Sea Star, Heart Urchin, Atlantic Long-arm Octopus, Eyed Flounder, Burrfish, Longsnout Seahorse and Longfin Squid, just to name a few. Please note that all participants must be strong swimmers and have their own snorkeling equipment.

Cancellation Policy

One-Time Events (Field Trips or Classes).  Individuals: If unexpected circumstances require you to cancel or reschedule your registration to receive either a refund or credit, respectively, you must provide Saltwater Studies with at least 48 hours notice. Refunds will be for the total amount paid less the non-refundable merchant service fee assessed by Stripe, PayPal, etc. If a credit is preferred, a credit will be issued for the total amount paid and will be valid for one year from the date of the event for which you originally registered. The credit can be applied to any future Saltwater Studies event, product or service. No refunds or credits will be provided for cancellations made within 48 hours of the event or for non-appearances. In the event that unforeseen circumstances such as inclement weather, illness, park closure or water use restrictions etc. require Saltwater Studies to cancel the event, the event will be rescheduled, if possible. If you are not able to attend the rescheduled event, you will be issued a credit that will be valid for one year from the date of the event from which you originally registered and can be applied to any future Saltwater Studies event, product or service.  Groups: If unexpected circumstances require you to cancel the event within 48 hours of the event, a cancellation fee may be applied based on the expenses incurred in association with preparation for the event.
