Teacher’s Assistant (Part-Time)

The Position

Saltwater Studies is looking for a part-time Teacher’s Assistant to help the Lead Educator in administering the Florida’s Marine Life class series for students 5 to 12 years of age for the 2025/2026 school year. Classes are held on Tuesdays at locations in Jupiter and Boynton Beach in Palm Beach County and Dania Beach in Broward County. The Teacher’s Assistant must be available from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM each class day.

We understand that some qualified candidates may not be able to assist in both Broward and Palm Beach Counties. If you are interested in this position but are only able to work within one of the two counties, please indicate that when submitting your qualifications.

This position includes:

  • Assisting with set-up and break-down activities as directed by the instructor

  • Taking class attendance

  • Handing out workbooks at the start of the school year

  • Managing inventory of all supplies, materials and equipment making sure that everything is properly accounted for and stored at the end of each class period

  • Communicating any needed materials to the Manager so that they can be replaced or replenished

  • Assisting the Lead Educator with display of visual aids during class discussion

  • Helping students as needed with learning activities

  • Assisting with supervising students during class discussion, learning activities and water or beach activities, helping to maintain a positive learning environment for all participants

The following schedule includes tentative class dates for the 2025/2026 school year. These dates may be changed based on water and weather conditions predicted for the day of the class.

Saltwater Studies was founded in 2011 and offers both biblically-based and secular marine science education at various beach locations throughout South Florida.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.

  • Must have reliable transportation.

  • Must have administrative giftings, be organized and have good communication skills.

  • Must be able to work outdoors in conditions that are sometimes uncomfortable (heat, insects, wind, etc.)

  • Must be a good swimmer and comfortable in and around water.

The right candidate for this position will be a person of integrity who has a positive attitude, desire to help and shows sensitivity to the needs of others. It is also preferred that the candidate has a relationship with Jesus Christ and experience serving in a ministry or church setting.

Compensation

  • $15/hour
