Peanut Island Snorkel
Peanut Island Snorkel
This event is limited to a maximum of twelve participants to encourage a positive educational experience. Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent. All participants, including parents, must pay for their participation.
BIBLICALLY-BASED & SECULAR EVENTS AVAILABLE
August 9: Biblically-Based
Participants will be led on a guided snorkeling adventure in the shallow water around Peanut Island. Crystal blue water, an abundance of reef fish and beautiful sea shells make this a location to remember. All participants must be strong swimmers and have their own snorkeling equipment.
Snorkel Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Swim fins are not allowed during the snorkel as they can become a safety issue in large groups. It is recommended that snorkelers wear water shoes instead of swim fins. Peanut Island Park is an isolated island park in the middle of the Intracoastal Waterway. There are restrooms, beach showers, drinking fountains and shaded picnic areas available on the island. You must bring your own water bottles and snacks or sack lunches as there are no concessions available on the island.
Please remember that participants will meet at Riviera Beach City Marina and catch a boat shuttle which will transport them over to the island. The shuttle leaves promptly at the scheduled time so please be on time! Although the duration of the field trip is 4 hours, participants may choose to stay on the island and contact the shuttle directly to arrange a return trip to the Riviera Beach City Marina. The last return shuttle leaves at 5:00 PM. Riviera Beach City Marina is located at 200 E. 13th Street, Riviera Beach, FL 33404 which is just south of Blue Heron Blvd. on Federal Highway in Palm Beach County. Please allow at least one hour to drive from Fort Lauderdale to the marina.
Expenses: There is a fee of $20 per person for the boat shuttle to Peanut Island. The fee for children ten years of age and younger is $10.00 each. Cash or credit/debit card can be used to pay this fee for ferry transportation to and from Peanut Island.
Saltwater Studies’ biblically-based events include a discussion on both biological information as well as how we can see the character of God in Creation. Secular events focus on biological information only.
