BIBLICALLY-BASED EVENT
Saltwater Studies is going shark tagging! This event is offered in partnership with Nova Southeastern University and the Guy Harvey Research Institute. This event is included in the 2022/2023 Field Course for high school students. In order to make the trip more affordable for the high school students and their families, Saltwater Studies is offering the extra spaces on the research vessel to anyone interested in attending on a first-come/first-serve basis.
Date: Monday, April 10, 2023
Time: 7:15 AM - 4/5 PM
What to Expect: This excursion is truly a "hands-on" experience. We will have the opportunity to participate in activities such as prepping the rigging, setting the lines, reeling in the sharks, and even placing the tag onto the shark. Guy Harvey Research members will teach you how to do each task, and you can choose which tasks you would prefer. You will have opportunities to see, touch, and work with the sharks up close. Please note that this type of fishing is difficult so please come prepared to work hard!
Who Can Attend: Middle & High School students (Parents are welcome to accompany their children but must pay for their participation.)
What to Bring: Participants must bring their own water, lunch, snacks. Wear beach appropriate clothing that can get dirty and come prepared to spend the day in the hot Florida sun. If you are prone to sea sickness Dramamine is highly recommended.
