What to Expect: Join Saltwater Studies at Bone Valley Experience in Wauchula, Florida for a dry fossil dig! Participants will first learn about shark tooth identification before being provided with sieves and shovels to search the grounds for various fossils. You will then sift through dredge material that was once the ocean floor. The fossils found at this dig site represent a number of marine animals that are now extinct such as the Megalodon and Snaggletooth (Hemipristis sp.) sharks. Bone Valley Experience guarantees that every guest will find shark teeth, possibly even a Megalodon tooth! Other fossils commonly found include stingray barbs and tooth plates, whale vertebra, and pufferfish tooth plates. Unlike other fossil dig sites that reserve the right to any “significant finds,” Bone Valley Experience allows participants to keep any fossil that they find. The fossils available in this dredge material are uniquely high quality. Some teeth found at this location are estimated to have been worth over $1,000!
