Homework Reading

Before coming to class, read Florida’s Living Beaches Field Guide (2nd Edition) pages 3-6.

Class Topic & Learning Activity

Students will be provided with an overview of the sandy beach environment that incorporates a review of the scientific method. Be sure to bring your copy of the Florida’s Living Beaches Field Guide with you to each class so that you will be able to complete all the class activities.

Water or Beach Activity

The day’s activity will include recording observations about the sandy beach ecosystem in the field journals.

Appropriate Attire: It is always recommended that you come to class prepared to get wet. Have your child wear his or her swimsuit, beach-appropriate clothing, water shoes and bring a filled water bottle.

Please make sure that your child wears the appropriate clothing for our class. If your child does not have the appropriate attire (i.e. swimming suit, water shoes or snorkel gear) to complete the planned activity, unfortunately he or she will not be able to participate.
