Class Topic & Learning Activity
Students will learn about water quality as an indicator of environmental health. Be sure to bring your copy of the Florida’s Living Beaches Field Guide with you to each class so that you will be able to complete all the class activities.
Water or Beach Activity
The day’s activity will include water quality sampling and analyzing seawater for different parameters such as temperature, turbidity, pH and dissolved oxygen.
Appropriate Attire: It is always recommended that you come to class prepared to get wet. Have your child wear his or her swimsuit, beach-appropriate clothing, water shoes and bring a filled water bottle.
Please make sure that your child wears the appropriate clothing for our class. If your child does not have the appropriate attire (i.e. swimming suit, water shoes or snorkel gear) to complete the planned activity, unfortunately he or she will not be able to participate.
