Each lesson gives readers an overview of the animal discussing topics such as classification, anatomy, behavior, and local species that can be spotted in South Florida. The lesson also incorporates vocabulary terms, quiz questions, worksheets and ideas for activities and games.

In addition to the biological information relating to each marine animal, the biblically-based version includes devotionals at the end of each lesson that discuss how we can see the character of God in Creation based on the scripture Romans 1:20.

For the second edition of the workbook, a brief lesson has been added covering basic snorkeling information. In addition, for the biblically-based version, two additional activities have been added focusing on searching for the character of God in Creation and memorizing Creation-related passages of the Bible.
