What to Expect: Participants will be provided with a guided tour of the shallow waters of a coastal mangrove swamp. The tour will begin with a discussion of the local marine environment including visual aids depicting species commonly seen throughout the area. Participants will then head to the water where hand nets and buckets will be used to collect and view specimens such as crabs, sea urchins, jellies and fish. Please come prepared to get wet!
This event will be led by Christa Jewett, a marine biologist with a B.S. and M.S. in marine biology and 25 years of experience in the field.
Who Can Attend: All ages are welcome to attend. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent. Since this event is limited to a maximum of 12 participants (adults and children), all participants, including parents, must pay for their participation.
What to Bring: Participants must bring their own water and snacks.
Where to Meet: Participants will meet next to the playground at Dubois Park (19075 DuBois Road, Jupiter, Florida 33477).
Cost: $45 per person
Expenses: None. There is no park entrance fee.
