What to Expect: This field trip includes a beach walk at Coral Cove Park on Jupiter Island. In addition to a sandy beach, Coral Cove Park also includes an Anastasia limestone formation which has been eroded by the waves. The rocky shoreline includes opportunities to search for marine life in the tide pools and collect numerous sea shells.
Who Can Attend: All ages are welcome to attend although the beach walk is not recommended for children under 4 years of age. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent.
What to Bring: As the waves constantly crash against the rocks, creating salt spray even at low tide, YOU WILL GET WET! It is recommended that participants wear swimsuits under their clothes and beach appropriate footwear. Shoes are required as the rough limestone can be sharp in various places. Personal items such as electronic devices, wallets or cameras must be sealed in plastic, waterproof bags or left in a safe place in your vehicle.
Where to Meet: Participants will meet in the parking lot next to the playground at Coral Cove Park (19450 County Hwy 707, Tequesta, FL 33469).
Cost: $25 per person
Expenses: None. This park does not have an entrance fee.
