Private Event: Mangrove Kayak Tour
Private Event: Mangrove Kayak Tour
Friday, April 11, 2025 | 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Participants will be led on a guided kayak through Whiskey Creek in Dania Beach. This is a sheltered waterway lined by mangroves that provides a great opportunity to see a variety of marine life. This is a great location to kayak during the winter months as manatees are frequently seen in the area due to the proximity to the FPL’s warm water discharge on the west side of the nearby Intracoastal Waterway.
Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied and supervised by a parent. This means that children must be at least 13 years of age to kayak by themselves.
The quantity indicated should reflect the number of students participating in this event. Names of parents or guardians accompanying registered students should be included in the registration form that appears once you select “Add to Cart”.
The registration deadline for this event is Friday, April 4, 2025.
All ages are welcome to attend. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent. Participants will meet at the park concession stand called BG Whiskey Creek Hideout located in Main Parking Lot #2 in Mizell-Johnson State Park (formerly John U. Lloyd Beach State Park) in Dania Beach, Florida (6503 North Ocean Drive, Dania Beach, FL 33004). Participants must bring their own water and snacks.
Expenses: The park charges $40 (plus tax) for up 1.5 hours of kayak rental for a single kayak and $45 (plus tax) for a double kayak. If you provide your own kayak, you must also bring a life jacket. Please note that the park entrance fee is waived for this event. Upon arriving at the park, tell the park ranger at the gate that you are attending a Saltwater Studies event.
