Class Topic & Activity

Students will learn about marine megafauna that can be spotted in Florida’s coastal waters. Species discussed will include sea turtles, manatees, rays, jellies and sharks. The day’s activity includes visiting areas of the park where these animals have been previously spotted.

Appropriate Attire

It is always recommended that you come to class prepared to get wet. Have your child wear beach-appropriate clothing, water shoes and bring a filled water bottle.

Recommended “Go” Bag

This class series is an adventure in exploration! While we have an outline and plan for our school year, activities might change depending on conditions on the day of our class. We encourage you to create a Saltwater Studies “Go” Bag for your student and bring it with you to each class to ensure that you are prepared for whatever the day brings. We recommend your bag include:

  • Swimsuit

  • Beach appropriate attire

  • Towel

  • Change of clothes

  • Close-toed water shoes

  • Mask & Snorkel

  • Mesh Collection Bag

  • Filled Water Bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Sun Hat
