BIBLICALLY-BASED EVENT
ONE-TIME EVENT
ADAPTIVE TOUR - Able to accommodate participants of all mobility levels.

What to Expect: For this laboratory, a marine biologist will give participants a biblically-based discussion on the power of sound before leading them on a live listening and recording tour that will allow them to experience underwater habitats using acoustics. Participants will learn to distinguish between snapping shrimp “popping” their warnings, various fish “grunting” or “drumming” as they court and spawn, and possibly even the vocalizations of a marine mammal. The laboratory will conclude with participants completing a soundscape worksheet, an educational tool that will help them to map the sounds that they heard. Each participant will be provided with all necessary materials and equipment. This event will have a maximum of 12 students.

Who Can Attend: Children 8 years old and older. Children under 13 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a parent. All children attending this event must be registered students. Siblings of any age, including infants, littles or older siblings, may not accompany registered students.

What to Bring: Participants should wear beach attire appropriate for the South Florida sun and bring a filled water bottle.

Where to Meet: Participants will meet at Phil Foster Park (900 Blue Heron Blvd, Riviera Beach, FL 33404). We will meet at the bathroom building on the west side of the parking lot.

Cost: $60 per student

Expenses: None.

Saltwater Studies’ biblically-based events include a discussion on both biological information as well as how we can see the character of God in Creation. Secular events include a neutral presentation that focuses on biological information only.
