We will meet at the Jetty Pavilion, if available. The Jetty Pavilion is located at the far north end of the park, approximately 2.5 miles from the park entrance, directly across the street from Nova Southeastern University’s Oceanographic Center. The Jetty Pavilion can be accessed from the Jetty Parking Lot which is on the right (east) side of the street.

Entrance Fee: The park entrance fee for this event has been waived. Upon arriving at the park entrance, tell the park ranger that you are attending a Saltwater Studies event.

Class Topic & Activity

Students will learn about the rocky intertidal ecosystem. Species discussed will include crabs, snails and seaweed. The day’s activity will include searching an artificial rocky shore environment for marine life.

Appropriate Attire

Please come prepared to get wet! Have your child wear his or her swimsuit, beach-appropriate clothing, water shoes and bring a filled water bottle.

Recommended “Go” Bag

This class series is an adventure in exploration! While we have an outline and plan for our school year, activities might change depending on conditions on the day of our class. We encourage you to create a Saltwater Studies “Go” Bag for your student and bring it with you to each class to ensure that you are prepared for whatever the day brings. We recommend your bag include:

  • Swimsuit

  • Beach appropriate attire

  • Towel

  • Change of clothes

  • Close-toed water shoes

  • Mask & Snorkel

  • Mesh Collection Bag

  • Filled Water Bottle

  • Sunscreen

  • Sun Hat
