Meeting Location

Ocean Inlet Park, 6990 N Ocean Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL 33435
Upon entering the park, turn left. We will meet under one of the covered pavilions.

Entrance Fee: None.

Facility Amenities: Ocean Inlet Park has all the standard amenities of a County park including covered pavilions, a playground, bathrooms, and beach showers.

Class Topic

This month we will be discussing corals. We will spend the morning discussing the topic and reviewing the homework assignment. Students must bring their notes from their completed homework assignment with them to class so that they can participate in the class discussion.

Water or Beach Activity

Students will learn how to conduct a qualitative and quantitative assessment of marine life, techniques commonly employed by marine biologists in studying coral reef environments. Students will be provided with transect lines, quadrats and field guides to use in completing their assessment.

Appropriate Attire: Students must wear beach-appropriate clothing that can get wet. Swim wear, t-shirts or quick dry attire are encouraged. Jeans, dress sandals, and sneakers are advised against. They must also bring their own lunch and a filled water bottle.
