(Page last updated: Tuesday, April 8, 2025)
Meeting Location
Meeting Location: Phil Foster Park, 900 Blue Heron Blvd, Riviera Beach, FL 33404. We will meet next to the bathroom on the west side of the park under one of the covered pavilions.
Parking Fee: None.
Facility Amenities: Phil Foster Park is located on the intracoastal waterway and offers a fun environment for swimming in a calm water area. Park amenities include a playground, covered picnic tables, outdoor showers and bathrooms.
Class Topic
This month we will be discussing dolphins. Due to the tide schedule, we will spend the morning snorkeling and the afternoon discussing the topic and reviewing the homework assignment. Students must bring their notes from their completed homework assignment with them to class so that they can participate in the class discussion.
Water or Beach Activity
Students will be led on a guided snorkel in the calm waters around Blue Heron Bridge, weather permitting. Students will be able to view an artificial reef that is home to a variety of local marine life.
Appropriate Attire: Students must wear their swimsuits and beach-appropriate clothing and bring their own snorkel and mask. Swim fins are not allowed during Saltwater Studies events, but water shoes are recommended as an alternative. All students will be required to wear snorkel vests provided by Saltwater Studies as a safety precaution.
Please make sure that your child wears the appropriate clothing for our class. If your child does not have the appropriate attire (i.e. swimming suit, water shoes or snorkel gear) to complete the planned activity, unfortunately he or she will not be able to participate.
