Class Topic & Learning Activity
This month we will be discussing gastropods (snails) and bivalves (clams, mussels, oyster and scallops). Class discussion will review different types of gastropods and bivalves while incorporating visual aids and a variety of specimens. For the learning activity students will compete a laboratory where they will use a field guide to identify different species of South Florida seashells or a sea shell memory game.
Water or Beach Activity
The beach activity includes searching for seashells along the wrack line.
Appropriate Attire: It is always recommended that you come to class prepared to get wet. Have your child wear his or her swimsuit, beach-appropriate clothing, water shoes and bring a filled water bottle.
Please make sure that your child wears the appropriate clothing for our class. If your child does not have the appropriate attire (i.e. swimming suit, water shoes or snorkel gear) to complete the planned activity, unfortunately he or she will not be able to participate.
