"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:19 (NKJV)

This is a horseshoe crab, a seemingly benign animal that has recently been revealed as a harbinger of mysteries. While these animals are often well-known in creationist circles because they have remained relatively unchanged throughout history, it is only recently that technology has revealed other incredible aspects of their biology.  Like the octopus, the horseshoe crab has blue blood, a reflection of the presence of hemocyanin instead of hemoglobin, the component that makes our blood red in color. More impressive than their color, however, is the fact that horseshoe crab blood is incredibly sensitive to contamination such as bacterial toxins. For this reason it is being used by medical practitioners to test for impurities in various medical devices such as pacemakers, injections or IV drips. This fact is just incredible to me as it represents such an amazing picture of God as our provider. As horseshoe crabs have remained relatively unchanged since the day they were created by God, the fifth day of Creation, this means that God, in His foresight and planning, provided for our current medical need thousands of years ago. This gives even greater meaning in light of Psalm 139:16, which says: " Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them." Just as God designed the horseshoe crab during the Creation week to provide for today's technological age, so He has also planned provision sufficient for each of our days before the Creation of the world. What an incredible God that we serve!
